The staff, board of directors and "Bigs" and "Littles" of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Butte County would like to thank the members of Active 20-30 Club of Chico for their recent generous donation in support of our mentoring programs. We would also like to thank Christian Michael's Ristorante, Crush 201, The End Zone, Johnnies Restaurant and Lounge, The Rawbar, Tortilla Flats and Bidwell Perk for their support of our organization as sponsors and participants in Active 20-30 Club's very successful Margarita Mix-off. And finally, we would like to extend our thanks to everyone who attended the Margarita Mix-off and made it possible for Active 20-30 to support our organization in such a meaningful way. The generosity of everyone involved helps make it possible for us to fulfill our goal of providing a caring adult mentor for each and every child in Butte County who either needs or wants a Big Brother or Big Sister. — Kathy Barrett, Chico

2nd Annual Back to School Shopping Child Spree
Held August 15th, 2009
The Back to School Shopping Spree provides underprivileged youth in our community the opportunity to purchase new clothing for their school year. Each child is provided a gift certificate and is chaperoned by a 20-30 club member through the store while they pick out new clothes for their school year.
Our goal this year is to provide 30 underprivileged youth with a $100 gift certificate to be used for purchasing new clothing and school supplies. We are looking for sponsors who would like to make a $100 donation. Your $100 donation will provide a child with the opportunity to purchase new clothing, enjoy a complimentary pancake breakfast and your name/company name on the event t-shirt which you will receive.

"ONE NEVER STANDS SO TALL AS WHEN KNEELING TO HELP A CHILD"
Chico Active 20-30 is the local chapter of the national service club. Chico Active 20-30 is open to anyone between the ages of 20 and 39 with an interest in helping the community, making friends, and having fun. Active 20-30 offers young adults the opportunity for community service, leadership development, and personal growth, with a focus on helping special needs children in Chico.
Our service in the community takes two main forms. In addition to volunteering time to help other organizations, Chico Active 20-30 also conducts its own fundraising events to donate money to children’s groups.
The club regularly meets twice a month to plan events and fundraisers, as well as share in the camaraderie of the group. Active 20-30 members come from all professions and walks of life. Our organization differs from many service organizations because we not only raise money for children's charities but also encourage active involvement with those groups. This active participation serves to solidify our relationships with those we serve, maintains motivation, and provides the opportunity to help others.
